POPULAR FAQS
The Skinbae IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) device uses IPL technology, which is currently a widely popular method of treating unwanted hair. When paired with our unique multilayered lens, it also treats acne, slows aging by reducing wrinkles and eliminating fine lines; and rejuvenates the skin. Regular treatments increase collagen production within the skin, leaving a glow for days!
Due to Skinbae’s diverse range of uses and proven results, it a must have for anyone wanting to look and feel their best at the convenience of their own home & schedule. What’s even better is the cost savings offered in comparison to clinics and traditional methods.
Most customers will begin to notice a reduction in hair, acne/acne scarring and improvement in overall skin texture within the first 2-3 treatments with complete results after twelve treatments. However, results vary from person to person. We recommend using your handset once every week for the first 12 weeks.
After this period, use your handset once a month for three months or until satisfied. To maintain hairless, smooth, acne free and refreshed skin use your handset once every 2-3 months; or as needed. There is a comprehensive treatment schedule provided within each Skinbae’s Owner’s Manual. There is no need to use it more than once a week, as IPL is only effective in the growing phase of your hair cycle.
Of course it is! Globally, there have been numerous studies that conclude the safety and effectiveness of IPL for hair removal, acne treatments & skin rejuvenation. Therefore, it has become an extremely popular and safe at-home treatment. Skinbae uses FDA approved technology and has both ROHS & CE certifications ensuring its high product quality as well as environmental awareness during the manufacturing process.
Skinbae comes with a unique lens designed specifically to allow for acne treatments, skin rejuvenation, increased collagen production as well as unwanted hair removal. We always advise that you exercise caution while treating yourself as everyone is not suitable for IPL treatments.
Due to the level of melanin in the skin, some darker skin tones will not be able to use IPL. The same applies if you have a recent tan. Additionally, we urge you to thoroughly go through the owner’s manual and tutorial video to learn how to maximize your device’s lifespan as well as to safely perform treatments. We also advise that you check with your doctor if you are taking any medication that may make your skin sensitive to light. People with epilepsy should not use any IPL devices.
No women part of the effectiveness study said they experienced pain, provided the correct settings were used as provided in the Intensity Chart within the Owner’s Manual. Most women described a warm sensation whereas some felt slight itching or prickling for up to one hour after the treatment. We recommend you follow the test instructions within the owner’s manual before your first session.
Pain can be experienced during or after treatment if:
* If you use Skinbae on unshaved skin
* If you use Skinbae at an intensity too high for you
* If you flash Skinbae on the same spot repeatedly
** DO NOT use Skinbae on open wounds, inflammations, cuts, infections, tattoos, burns, etc.
You can use Skinbae on your entire body; including your bikini, full legs, hands, feet, back, forehead, temples, cheeks, upper lip, chin, jawline, arms & underarms. When treating your face, avoid flashing close to your eyes.
Additionally dark freckles & moles should be avoided as they contain more melanin and can absorb too much heat leading to very minor skin burns.
It is safe to use anywhere except the eyes, nipples or on your privates. It is necessary to avoid using on wounded or sunburnt skin.
Skinbae has no negative impact on long-term health and fertility. It is non health intrusive and the IPL technology has been around for more than 25 years. No researches have indicated IPL usage can lead to skin cancer or fertility issues.
When using your Skinbae device as recommended, side effects are rare. However, a slight redness and a little inflammation can be the most common side effect of IPL which quickly subside after the treatment.

HOW SKINBAE WORKS
Globally, there have been numerous studies conducted that conclude the safety and effectiveness of IPL for hair removal, acne treatment and skin rejuvenation. Therefore, it has become an extremely popular safe at-home treatment. Skinbae has both ROHS and CE certifications ensuring its high product quality as well as environmental awareness during the manufacturing process. Skinbae comes with a unique lens, designed specifically to also allow for acne treatments as well as skin rejuvenation and collagen production enhancement, in addition to unwanted hair removal.
We always advise that you exercise caution when treating yourself as not everyone is suitable for IPL treatments. Due to the level of melanin in the skin, some darker skin types will not be able to use IPL. The same applies if you have a recent tan. Additionally, we urge you to thoroughly go through the owner’s manual and tutorial video to learn how to maximize your device’s lifespan as well as to safely perform treatments. We also advise that you check with your doctor if you are taking medication that may make your skin sensitive to light. People with Epilepsy should not use ANY IPL devices due to the bright flash required for treatments.
You can use Skinbae on your entire body, including your: brazilian, complete legs, arms, underarms, hands, feet, back, bikini line, forehead, temples, cheeks, moustache, chin, along the jawline and face (just be sure to not get too close to your eyes). Additionally, dark freckles and moles should be avoided as they contain more melanin and can absorb too much heat, leading to very minor skin burns.
It is safe to use anywhere except around the eyes, nipples, or on your privates. It is necessary to avoid using on already damaged or irritated skin (wounds, sunburns).
IPL is suitable for all but the darkest skin tones (no matter what other manufacturers may claim). This is because the light energy may be more attracted to the pigments in the skin rather than the melanin in the hair, or melanin clusters it attacks to treat with acne scarring and to rejuvenate the skin. Refer to the skin tone chart below to see whether or not IPL is suitable for you.
Skinbae has 3 modes for you to choose form:
- Manual mode – Skinbae will flash when you press the trigger button.
- Glide mode – Skinbae will flash (when ready) as you hold the trigger button down continuously. This can also be achieved by gliding Skinbae along the area to be treated after having left it in Auto Mode.
- Auto mode – Skinbae will flash on its own (when ready) without any buttons needing to be pressed.
IPL relies on melanin in the hair absorbing the light energy, and therefore IPL is not effective on hair that is naturally very light blonde, red, or grey (irrespective of what other manufacturers may claim).
The fastest way to treat darkspots from the face is Skinbae. Skinbae laser ipl targets melanin to remove dark spots, age spots, sun spots and skin discolorations.
Dark spots, also known as hyperpigmentation, are brownish spots on your face or body. They can form anywhere your skin, face or body. Treating hyperpigmentation through Skinbae’s laser ipl requires about 2-4 treatments spaced 3-5 weeks apart. The skin cycle is of 30 days and it’s recommended to let a full cycle complete for best results.
Treat sunspots within sessions with skinbae’s 3in1 lens. Just position and zap away brownish or reddish discoloration on face and body!
To treat sunspots, Skinbae sends a targeted light beam to the pigment. The light energy heats up the “damage” or pigment causing it to rise to the surface of the skin. Healthy skin and tissue is not harmed or impacted with IPL treatments. Your body will naturally exfoliate the sun spot.
Skinbae suggests 2-5 treatments depending on the color, place and stubbornness of the sunspots. Treatments should be spaced 3-5 weeks apart for best results! Skin cells turn over in about a month, that’s why it’s recommended to wait a full cycle go before your next treatment.
FACTS & LIMITATIONS
Let’s not find out for yourself! Do not use any laser ipl on your skin every day or more than suggested. Skinbae or any other laser devices should be used as per the schedule in the manual or blog posts.
Treating your skin with light therapy too often will cause irritation and will not speed up the hair removal or scar treatment process.
